I so recognise this. What at first seemed to be a perfect situation for a working mother, turns out to be a situation where you can never relax wothout a feeling of guilt. There is always something you HAVE to do. When you have done the chores (or even during) you feel that you should do administration. And, while doing administration, the doorbell: package for daughter, son or neighbour (!). Errants need to be done and, indeed, the washing machine screams for some attention. Not to speak of the box with clean clothes and towels that need to be folded and ironed, which you pass everytime. You’re so lucky to have a working spot apart from home!

I recognise it so Well.

If it weren’t for my Bechstein baby, I would have loved to find such a place as well. I can’t always enjoy my working space at home.

But I have this perfect grand piano here and I can even work on it with headphones…. so I force myself to go through the daily distractions, cats wanting attention, an adolescent shouting for attention, a partner every now and then needing some attention too….I love this little place too much to look around. And there’s no place like my Bechstein place.

But sometimes it’s hard to be in a private mood here!

I understand your story too well!!
